A flat ~1.5-mile Meadowlands loop in Secaucus (sister site to DeKorte) — cedar stumps rising from the marsh, herons and egrets, and easy stroller-friendly walking. Open dawn to dusk and free, about 10 minutes out; a calm early ramble with a real wild feel.
It's 6:30am, the kids are up, and Harrison is just stirring. This dense Hudson County town is thin on indoor attractions, but its morning strength is specific: very early Portuguese and Latin bakeries, and a cluster of dawn-open parks led by a real county lake park. Here's the 6–10am gap.
Harrison is barely a square mile, wedged between Kearny and Newark — so this is very much a radius. West Hudson Park sits on the Harrison–Kearny line, and within 20 minutes you reach Branch Brook Park and Lyndhurst's indoor play. It's Hudson County, so no Sunday blue laws — stores just open a bit later.
Coffee, a bakery, a supermarket, and the parks. Two Dunkins open around 4:30, B&G bakery-deli (212 Harrison Ave) and Harrison Supermarket (414 FER Blvd N) at 5:30. West Hudson Park (the lake park on the Kearny line) and the town's neighborhood playgrounds are open from dawn. Coperaco, the nice coffee spot in Riverbend, opens at 7. There's no indoor playground in town, so early indoor time is a supermarket or a bakery.
No — Harrison has no dedicated indoor playground or kids' gym in town, and the library opens at 10 (closed Wednesdays). For a rainy-morning indoor play space, the nearest are a short drive out — Twin Monkey Playhouse in Lyndhurst (9:30 open play) or FunVille in Belleville (9am). In Harrison itself before 10, the warm indoor option is Harrison Supermarket.
