The morning slots are weekends and Thursdays (Saturday from 8:30, Sunday and Thursday from 9); otherwise it runs weekday afternoons. Lesson-based by enrollment, so book ahead rather than dropping in.
Pilgrim Shopping Plaza (265–345 Pompton Ave, the big lot anchored by Kings) is Verona's most useful morning stop. It's not a single destination — it's the stack: a hand-rolled bagel before 6, a full supermarket at 7, a free wander past Petco's animals at 9, and a kids' gymnastics studio and swim school right in the lot for a class to book. Hot Bagels N More opens at 5:30am (6 on weekends), Kings Food Markets at 7, and Petco at 9. Diamond Gymnastics starts classes around 9:30. Verona is Essex County with no Sunday blue laws, so it all runs Sundays — the one exception is Diamond Gymnastics, which is closed Sunday.
Yes — SafeSplash Swim School, right on the Pompton Ave plaza strip, runs weekend and Thursday morning lessons (Saturday from 8:30, Sunday and Thursday from 9), plus weekday afternoons. Diamond Gymnastics is the other kids'-class anchor in the lot. Both are lesson-based, so book ahead. For the 6–10am gap, the plaza's drop-in strengths are the bagels, Kings, and Petco.
